Frank Lavigne - 329.84 Season Average

The story as I have heard it, is Frank Lavigne was an avid gambling man excelling in pool, bowling and picking ponies. In 1975/76 Frank set, what is, one of the most incredible feats in bowling history. He began the season averaging 257.13 for the first quarter. He felt he could average 275 by the end of the season. Being a betting man, many bet that he could not do it bowling the way he did. A few weeks later he was averaging over 280 and the bets he origionally made were doubled, new bets were taken, on finishing the year over 300. By the end of the second quarter, he was averaging over 300... the bets again doubled for a year end average of 325. This was unheard of in fivepin bowling and the bets were doubled again and many new betters stepped in. This late in the season, Frank accomplished the impossible in fivepin bowling, finishing the season with a 329.84 average. I don't know how much money he made on his bets that year, but I hear it was a considerable amount for that time.
